Role
The Production Manager is responsible for managing global production operations, vendor relationships, and ensuring cost-effective and timely manufacturing. This role oversees production planning, negotiates costs to meet target margins, ensures vendor compliance, and manages purchase orders for wholesale, new products, and replenishments. The Production & Sourcing Manager works closely with the Merchandise Planner to align production needs, tracks payment schedules, and optimizes lead times and MOQ requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor & Cost Management
- Negotiate pricing and terms with overseas and local vendors to ensure costs align with target margins.
- Monitor vendor compliance, ensuring adherence to quality, ethical sourcing, and delivery standards.
- Identify and onboard new vendors as needed to support production scalability.
Production Planning & Execution
- Collaborate with the Merchandise Planner to align production schedules with inventory needs and demand forecasts.
- Oversee MOQ and lead time management to optimize production efficiency and ensure timely delivery.
- Work with the Business Development team to align production timelines with wholesale commitments and client expectations.
Purchase Order Management
- Submit all production POs for wholesale, new products, and replenishments.
- Track all production orders, ensuring vendors meet agreed-upon deadlines and troubleshoot delays as needed.
Budgeting & Cash Flow Management
- Manage production budgets established in partnership with the Merchandise Planner.
- Track payment schedules, ensuring deposits and final payments align with financial planning.
- Work with finance teams to maintain healthy cash flow for production operations.
- Ensure costs are accurately tracked for profitability purposes
Logistics & Import/Export Oversight
- Ensure smooth import/export processes, working with freight partners to optimize lead times and costs.
- Coordinate shipping and logistics to avoid production and delivery bottlenecks.
- Work proactively to minimize duties, delays, and unnecessary costs associated with global production.
Risk Management & Problem-Solving
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks that could impact production timelines, such as supplier delays, raw material shortages, or freight disruptions.
- Develop contingency plans to ensure smooth production flow in case of unforeseen issues.
Reporting & Data Analysis
- Provide regular production reports to leadership, detailing key metrics such as lead times, vendor performance, and cost efficiency.
- Analyze production trends and inefficiencies, recommending adjustments to improve processes.
Sustainability & Ethical Sourcing
- Ensure that vendors comply with ethical labor practices and sustainable sourcing initiatives.
- Work towards optimizing material waste reduction and exploring eco-friendly production alternatives.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as the main point of contact between Peace Collective and manufacturing partners, ensuring a strong working relationship.
- Work closely with internal teams (Merchandise Planning, Business Development, and Finance) to ensure production aligns with company goals.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 2+ years of experience in production management, sourcing, or supply chain operations.
- Strong vendor negotiation and cost management skills.
- Experience with MOQ, lead time management, and global production coordination.
- Deep understanding of import/export, freight logistics, and supply chain compliance.
- Ability to track and manage production budgets and cash flow.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work cross-functionally with internal teams.
Experience working in apparel, fashion, or eCommerce production.
